How money works on Werkara

Posting a task is free for clients. You agree the price directly with your client and are paid directly — Werkara does not add anything on top for clients. Taskers pay Werkara nothing until 31 October 2026, and a 9 % fee on the task amount from 1 November 2026. Taskers are independent providers and are responsible for their own taxes and insurance.

What is Werkara for taskers?

Werkara is a Swiss app that brings you paid everyday tasks from people nearby — repairs, moving, gardening, pet care, tutoring and more. You create a profile, choose the tasks that fit you and deal directly with your clients.

What does it cost me to join?

Registering and creating your profile is free. Until 31 October 2026 Werkara takes no fee; from 1 November 2026 it is 9 % of the task amount — always shown before you accept a task.

How do I receive tasks?

Clients near you post tasks on Werkara. When a task matches your skills and area, you're notified wherever it suits you — in the app, on the website, by WhatsApp or by email. Every morning can start with a list of new tasks coming to you: send your offer on the ones you like and agree the details directly in chat.

How do I get paid?

Directly by the client, at the price you agreed together, after the work is done. Werkara does not stand between you and your money.

Do I need to be a registered company?

No — Werkara is open to solo freelancers, self-employed people and small businesses. You remain responsible for your own taxes and insurance, as with any independent work.

Where is Werkara available?

Werkara works all over Switzerland — in every canton and language region, in cities and in the countryside. There are tasks in Zurich, Basel, Bern, Geneva, Lausanne, Lucerne, St. Gallen, Winterthur and Lugano just as there are in smaller places across the German-speaking region, Romandy and Ticino. You simply set your working area in your profile and only hear about tasks near you. And Werkara speaks your language: German, French, Italian and English.

How much can I earn as a tasker?

That is up to you: you set your price and agree it directly with the client — Werkara takes no fee until the end of October 2026, and 9 % after that. As a guide, usual rates in Switzerland are around CHF 30–40 an hour for cleaning and household help, CHF 40–60 for furniture assembly and small repairs, CHF 25–35 for dog sitting and dog walking, and CHF 30–50 for tutoring. Whether you take one task a month or ten a week is your decision.

Can I do this alongside studying or a full-time job?

Yes — that is exactly what Werkara is built for. You only take the tasks that fit your calendar and you can pause at any time. Many taskers use Werkara as a student job or as extra income next to permanent employment; there is no minimum number of tasks. Do check your employer’s rules on secondary work.

Do I need to speak German or French?

Not to start. A lot of the coordination happens in writing and the chat translates, and in Zurich, Zug, Geneva and Basel a large share of clients are international and write in English. IT support, moving help, pet care and cleaning are the easiest categories to begin in with English only. Learning some of your region’s language will widen the number of tasks you can take.

Do I have to pay tax on this income or register with AHV?

In short: income from tasks is taxable in Switzerland and belongs in your tax return. If you work independently on a regular basis, you register with the compensation office (Ausgleichskasse) of your canton; small secondary earnings fall under exemption thresholds.
