Privacy Policy

Effective 8 September 2026 · This version replaces the policy of 28 October 2025

1. Controller

The controller responsible for the processing of personal data described in this policy is:

Werkara GmbH
Birmannsgasse 19, 4055 Basel
Switzerland · UID CHE-147.416.325
Email: support@werkara.ch
Website: werkara.ch

You can reach us at the e-mail address above.

2. Scope and applicable law

This policy applies to the website werkara.ch, the Werkara web application (app.werkara.ch) and related communication with us. We process personal data in accordance with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP).

3. Personal data we process

  • Account data (clients and taskers): name, e-mail address, phone number, password, language, user type.
  • Tasker profile data: name, contact details, photo, service categories offered, qualifications, service area, availability and pricing information, as provided by the tasker.
  • Client task data: task description, location, preferred dates, budget indications, and the client’s name and contact details submitted with a task.
  • Communication data: messages and enquiries sent via the platform or to our support.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser and device information, access timestamps and log data.
  • Usage data collected through cookies and analytics tools (see section 7).

4. Sharing of information between clients and taskers

Werkara is a platform that connects clients who need a service with independent taskers who offer it. Exchanging information between these two groups is the very purpose of the service. It works as follows:

  • When a client submits a task, the task details and the client’s name and contact details are disclosed to the tasker or taskers to whom the request is directed or matched.
  • When a tasker submits a response or offer to a task, the tasker’s profile information and contact details are disclosed to the client concerned.

Contact details are disclosed to the other side only after such a submission — not before. The disclosed data may be used by the recipient solely to arrange, coordinate and perform the requested service; any other use, in particular for advertising, is not permitted.

5. Purposes and legal grounds

We process personal data to register and manage accounts and profiles; to mediate between clients and taskers as described in section 4; to communicate with users; to improve and secure the platform and prevent fraud and misuse; to comply with legal obligations; and, only with your consent, for direct marketing. We rely on the performance of a contract, your consent, our legitimate interests and statutory obligations, and observe the processing principles of the FADP.

6. Other recipients

  • Other users, as described in section 4.
  • Service providers (hosting, IT, e-mail delivery) that process data on our behalf under data processing agreements.
  • Analytics and advertising providers named in section 7.
  • Courts and authorities, where we are legally obliged to disclose.

We do not sell personal data.

7. Cookies, analytics and advertising

We use cookies and similar technologies. In particular, we use Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Ltd., Dublin, Ireland, and Google LLC, USA) to measure how our website and app are used; IP addresses are shortened, and data may be processed in the USA under the Swiss–U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

When we run advertising campaigns, we may additionally use Google Ads conversion tracking and Meta (Facebook/Instagram) advertising tools; where the law requires it, we will ask for your consent first. You can restrict or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings.

8. Disclosure abroad

Personal data may be processed in Switzerland, in the EU/EEA and — for the analytics and advertising services named above — in the USA. Where a country does not offer adequate data protection, we rely on recognised safeguards, in particular adequacy decisions of the Swiss Federal Council, the Swiss–U.S. Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.

9. Retention

We keep account and profile data for as long as your account exists. After deletion of the account, data is deleted or anonymised unless statutory retention duties apply (business records may have to be kept for up to 10 years under Swiss law). Communication data is kept for up to 24 months after the last interaction; technical logs for up to 12 months.

10. Your rights

Under the FADP you have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive the data you provided in a common electronic format. You may withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future. To exercise your rights, contact support@werkara.ch. You may also lodge a complaint with the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).

11. Data security

We protect personal data with appropriate technical and organisational measures, including transport encryption (TLS) and access controls.

12. Changes to this policy

We may amend this policy from time to time. The version published on werkara.ch applies. We will inform you of material changes on the website or in the app.
